As the October half-term fast approaches in Coventry, families are looking for ways to keep children engaged and entertained. Fortunately, there is plenty on in the city this half-term, from lantern-lit trails and fun-filled stage shows to dozing with a dinosaur and spooktacular crafting. If you’re in Coventry this half-term, then rest assured - this Halloween season has something for every family.

Visit Coventry Charterhouse for a family fun day

Coventry Charterhouse is located within easy reach of the city centre. It’s a Grade 1 listed heritage site, dating back more than 600 years - surrounded by acres of greenery. It is perfect for a family day out, especially on a damp day, as there’s plenty to do inside as well.

Why not explore the Charterhouse walled garden’s short lantern-lit trail, decorated with pumpkin displays and glowing lights? Or venture inside and find the house decorated with bats, pumpkins, black cats and ghosts.

Admission is free and there’s no need to book. Plus, there’s a cafe on site with lots of delicious savoury and sweet treats on the menu.

Head to the theatre

Pintsized Julia Donaldson fans are not going to want to miss the stage adaptation of Stick Man, which is heading to The Albany Theatre in Coventry this half-term. The show is 55 minutes long and tells the adventures of Stick Man, after he heads out on his morning jog. From being used as a stick for a dog, a branch for a nest or a flagpole for a sandcastle, watch as Stick Man struggles to find his way back home.

Suitable for all ages (although 3+ is recommended), with tickets costing £15/child and £17/adult. Various showings throughout the day, from Friday 21st October - Sunday 26th October.

Doze Under Dippy

Taking place on Saturday 25th October, this is your chance to have a sleepover in a museum. Promising to be a unique experience, stay overnight, sleeping under Dippy the 26-foot Diplodocus.

This is suitable for ages six-11, along with their grown-ups. The event also includes a night full of activities, including a torch-lit tour of he museum, as well as arts and crafts. Lights go down at 10.30pm after a short film, before guests can enjoy breakfast the following morning.

Tickets cost £50 and must be purchased ahead of the event.

FarGo Village Halloween Makers Market

Bursting with independent crafters, designers and retailers, Fargo Village will be transforming into a spooktacular Halloween Makers Market this half-term in Coventry.

Taking place on Saturday 25th October (11am-5pm) and Sunday 26th October (11am-4pm), in FarGo Village, Coventry. Entry is free.

Ghostly Guildhall

Visit St Mary’s Guildhall in Coventry this half-term for a family-fun Halloween experience. Discover different bone parts belonging to Bobby Bones in the Bone-tastic Trail before enjoying Halloween-themed crafts. Halloween-themed sessions are taking place between 25th October and 31st October.
