Back-to-school checklist
Posted on 15 Jul 25
As we get ready to enjoy the summer holidays, the new school year may seem a way off in the distance, but in reality, it will be upon us sooner than we think. The start of a new school year is an exciting time for students - youngsters are just starting out in reception, others are beginning their journey to secondary school, while some are getting ready for their final GCSE year.
Whatever year your child is going into, there’s a list of things your child will need to start the new school year, and while tempting, it’s best not to leave it until the final week of the holidays. Get an early start and make the whole process a little bit easier.
To help, we’ve put together this handy checklist. But please remember to check with your child's school about any rules or guidelines they have regarding stationery, uniforms and lunches. After all, every school is different.
School uniform
Check what your child has and what still fits. Order early to avoid last-minute stress and label everything clearly for school.
- Shirts/blouses
- Trousers/skirts/dresses
- Jumpers/cardigans
- Blazers or ties (if required)
- Socks and tights
- Smart black shoes
- Smart jacket or coat
- Vests (if needed)
For all your uniform needs, visit Clive Mark. We are your one-stop online shop for school uniform and accessories in the Midlands.

Make sure your child is fully stocked with all the learning tools they’ll need to stay organised, focused and creative every day.

- Maths set
- Calculator

- School bag or backpack
- PE/swimming bag
- Lunch box/bag

Pack a kit suited to both indoor and outdoor activities. Ensure trainers fit well and that everything is comfortable, practical, and labelled.

Personal items
Pop a few useful items in their bag to help them stay clean, prepared and independent.
